Hog Hunting in Barbour County Alabama promises you a target rich environment. Thousands of acres broken up into several tracts of prime Hog Hunting property. You have the choice of Rifle, Shotgun with slugs, muzzle loader, archery, and Hog Hunting at Night with your thermals and lights or our thermal rentals. All our hog hunts include overnight lodging for your convenience, and you can choose lodging with meals or without. The Oakridge Hog Hunting Lodges are in South Alabama, just 45 minutes Northwest from Dothan, and 1.5 hours Southeast from Montgomery Alabama. We make it easy and let the hunter choose what to shoot at a flat rate all included in your chosen hunting package.
It is never a rush so when you arrive you can unpack, gear up, and review the particulars and rules and your hog hunting trip is ready to start. We start by taking you out to your stand. For your convenience we have buddy stands, tripod stands, box stands and ground blinds. Shots to the feeders are about one hundred yards, though in some spots you can shoot a couple hundred yards. After each sit, which is usually 10 am morning pickup and dark for evening pickup you will return to the main lodge while we provide skinning services for your harvested hog. Between your morning and afternoon hog hunt you are welcome to go fishing on one of our lakes. We have two heavily stocked bass lakes along with lots of bream.
Hog Hunting in Alabama at Oakridge starts before daylight. Everyone is up in time to eat a hearty breakfast and then it is off to the woods. The morning Hog Hunts are usually in hardwood bottoms, open fields with feeders and baiting stations. Your guide will take you to your stand and will pick you up at whatever time you would like to break. Hog hunting packages that include meals will be served Continental early before daylight, lunch around noon, and dinner after your return to the Main lodge. Hog Hunting at Night is usually about 1-2 hours before sunset and picked up from your hog hunting stand around 10 pm. If you hunt later than 10 pm you will not have a morning hunt because both the guides and you will need a good night’s sleep. Our food plots range in size from one acre up to over five acres. Shots range anywhere from fifteen yards up to three hundred yards, click here to see the views of our stands. If you choose an all-inclusive hog hunting trip package at the end of the day you will enjoy a large southern style dinner cooked by your personal chefs at the Main Hunting Lodge.
Four or more hunters at the Hog Hunting Lodge is a full-service hog hunting experience where you will enjoy fully prepared meals and private sleeping quarters. The main lodge is a renovated 1920's style dog trot house, with 3 bedrooms, 2 private bathrooms, and a 1/2 bath. The lodge is in the middle of the hunting property only one mile from the highway. No driving is necessary once you have reached the lodge unless by choice. Three meals per day are prepared for overnight guests. There are two ponds behind the main lodge that are available for fishing if you like. All groups are kept private, in Oak Ride Lodge, and we can host 8 people comfortably.
We also provide you with an area to check your rifle sights!
We offer Hog Hunting 7 days a week and generally hunt mid-February until October 1st each year! Size or cutter length does not matter, they all count as one. No Trophy Fees Ever at Oakridge!
Oakridge Hunting Lodge starts Outfitting for hog in mid-February and usually goes through the first of October. Oakridge Hog hunting at night usually takes place in the late evenings into the night around 10 pm but can go later if needed. During strong morning hog activity, we will adjust your hunting times accordingly. Hog hunting with thermal or Night Vision is not a necessity but makes a huge improvement. Hog Hunting Lights in red or green that can attach to your scope or stock works as well.
A three-day hog hunt runs from noon on your arrival date until noon on your departure date for a total of four sits. You may harvest one hog per sit and No Trophy Fees Ever at Oakridge Hunting Lodge. One example of a 3-day hog hunt would be to arrive at noon on a Friday and hog hunt that same afternoon, hunt am and pm of the next day Saturday, and then hunt the morning of Sunday until around 10 then depart around noon on that same day.
Oakridge Hog hunting at night is very productive. Be prepared to shoot in low light conditions. This is when the largest of hogs come out and are not easily spooked by flashlight beams at night. We recommend using your own Thermal Imaging equipment for this type of hunt, but you can use a red or green LED style hog hunting light attached to your scope or stock as well. Oakridge has two Night Hunting Thermal setups for use at a rate of $200 each per night, ammunition included. Oakridge Thermal rentals require a separate agreement and for you to familiarize yourself and shoot this weapon prior to your evening hunt.
Hog Hunting at Night is an add on to your day hunt and is $200/hunter/night so you can choose the number of nights to hunt. Night Hog Hunting usually runs until 10 pm unless other arrangements are made prior to your reservation. Includes one hog any size per hunter per sit and NO TROPHY FEES!
Please make note that the Oakridge Hog Hunting Lodge package prices do not include a tip for your Hog Hunting Guide or processor, which are customary for a successful hunt and very much appreciated.
If you shoot a hog which means your guide finds hair or blood and we are unable to find and recover it, that hog will count against your limit. This policy helps eliminate indiscriminate shots. However, we will do everything in our power to find your hog. You will see we are going the extra mile to make your Alabama Hog Hunting successful! Please remember that your guide is always in charge. The hunt ends when your guide feels they have exhausted all resources in the attempt to recover your hog.
